Osteopathy is a profession that makes extensive use of manual assessment and treatment guided by the principles set forth by its founder, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still. The three tenets that guide the practice now are:

The body is a dynamic unit
The body is self-healing
Structure and function are interrelated.
Osteopathy views the body as one unit working together and takes all the moving parts into consideration during assessment and treatment. It understands the body is also inherently capable of healing and regulating itself, given the right conditions. The proper alignment of all layers of structure in a body give it the ability to function as it was designed. The motion capacity of the body is directly related to one’s ability to self-heal and regulate. Osteopathic Manual Practitioners are functional anatomists who use manual therapy to restore proper body mechanics, nerve impulse and circulation by removing motion restriction where needed.

Carlie is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner who graduated from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in 2023 and is in good standing as a member of the Ontario Osteopathic Association.

Carlie became interested in Osteopathy after experiencing the profound results from treatment while recovering from a sports related injury. She has always been fascinated by the body’s ability to self-heal and self-regulate, so much so that she has transitioned out of a career in education to practice Osteopathy. Her education at the CAO helped her solidify her understanding of Natural Law, structure/function relationships and how the principles of Osteopathy in practice through assessment and treatment can gently realign the body to promote the normal function of nerve, arteries, veins and lymphatics for health restoration.

Carlie holds a BA in French Literature with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and has over a decade of experience as a highschool languages teacher. She has also completed a 200H yoga teacher training which was influential in wanting a more in-depth understanding of human anatomy and physiology.

Traveling with her husband, trying new recipes and spending time in nature hiking with her dog are a few activities she enjoys in her spare time.
